Miley Cyrus - These Four Walls (cover)
These four walls They whisper to me They know a secret I knew they would not keep Didn't take long for the room to fill with trust And these four walls came down around us It must have been something that send me out of my head With the words so radical And not what I meant Now I wait for a break in the silence 'cause it's all that you left Just me and these four walls again It's hard now to let you be I won't make excuses I've made my peace Didn't take long for me to lose the trust 'Cause these four walls were not strong enough ooooh It must have been something that send me out of my head With the words so radical And not what I meant Now I wait for a break in the silence 'cause it's all that you left Just me and these four walls again Yeah, it's difficult Watching us fade Knowing it's all my fault My mistake Yeah, it's difficult Letting you down Knowing it's all my fault You're not around It must have been something that send me out of my head With the words so radical And not what I meant Now I wait for a break in the silence 'cause it's all that you left Just me and these four walls again Yeah Ooh These four walls again
Amy Raasch "52 Songs in 52 Weeks" #24: "To Be True"
SONG INSPIRATION & LYRICS: I went back to my songwriting journal to find this song, dated October 6. "Wow," I thought. "That was awhile ago. Has life been that much?" Yes. Yes it has. I do recall, however, that the song was born when the first two lines arrived in that mysterious-package-from-the-subconscious form, like prehistoric tadpole-esque creatures surfacing one glassy eye, ready to become God Only Knows What. I REALLY wanted a nice, slammin' drum loop on this, but none of the loops in my Digitech were in 6/8. After a couple of hours of sniffing around a problematic Garageband 08 (which I've never used in my life), I moved on to create a different, tiny surprise at the end. Thanks for listening. TO BE TRUE Copyright 2008 Amy Raasch I sold my rope for a dime, for a dime in the valley For a dime in the valley below Bought back my hope for a dime, for a dime from the devil For a dime from the devil to show Its the same everywhere that you go Reaping the seeds that you sow Now Im walking around with a roll of dimes and a day Filled with nothing to do Yeah Im walking around with a roll of dimes and a brain Filled with nothing but you We may fight to be true But its right to be true I wrote a note to a child, to my child unborn I said, Mama will bring you in time Then I cleared my throat for a song, for a song was birthin To cradle the earth as she cries For the love of a mother is blind But the weather can change on a dime Now were walking around with a roll of dimes up ...
