when you're wasted:1
Chapter one:
I looked up to see the faded red roses that were wilting. I heard the bedroom door open and saw him walk in, stumbling, holding onto something to keep his balance. I stood up, so I could help him to the bed.
He yelled and slurred his words, 'DONT MOOOOOVE!'
I jumped back, 'I just...just wanna help'
He slurred, 'I dooont neeeeed your heellllp!'
I took a step forward, 'Joe, let me help.'
Joe grabbed my hair and threw me to the ground. I cried out in pain, I didn't move I just lied there on the ground crying.
The next morning I awoke still on the floor, I noticed Joe was asleep on top of the bed with his hand dangling off the side of the bed.
I had no clue why I stayed with him, he was always getting drunk or high. I missed the old Joe, the one who I loved, who was loveable, caring, kind, and the sweetest thing alive. College really changes a person, I miss high school.
I stood up slowly and groaned. My head hurt like hell, I walked carefully to the bathroom and took an Advil. I walked to the kitchen and made some tea. Joe would be out of it for about four more hours.
I sat on the couch and read the book I have to read for English. After an hour I finished reading the whole book and I wrote down my notes for the book. Then I got my next novel out of my book bag that was on the floor. I pulled the book out, Romeo and Juliet, a classic that I could never get sick of. I read that for about two hours and then wrote down some notes and put the book away.
I heard someone walking down the stairs; I turned around and saw Joe. I stood up and went to the kitchen and made him some herbal tea. Joe walked in holding his head, 'Morning Abie.' He tried to kiss my cheek.
I moved and handed him his tea, 'Morning.' With that I left the room and went upstairs to get ready for the class I had in two hours. I grabbed my jeans and one of Joes Elvis Costello shirts and changed. I slipped on my flip flops and threw my hair up into a messy pony tail, put on some make up and walked downstairs. I walked back into the kitchen and grabbed a bagel and sat on the counter, 'How do you feel?'
Joe sipped his tea, 'Just got a head ache.'
I nodded, 'Can I suggest something?'
Joe looked at me, 'Yeah, go ahead.'
I looked into his eyes, 'Stop drinking.'
Joe looked away, 'I...'
I sighed, 'Whatever, Ill be home after my class. If you get drunk before I get back. Promise me not to pull my hair when I walk through the door, you hurt me enough last night.' I jumped off the counter and started to leave the room.
Joe stopped me, 'I hurt you?'
I looked at him with tears welling up, 'I tried to help you, but instead of you letting me, you yelled and grabbed my hair and threw me to the ground.'
Joe stood up, 'Abie I'm really sorry'
I shook my head, 'No, you aren't Joe, if you were truly sorry you would just stop altogether.' I walked into the living room, grabbed my book bag, and left the place I call home.
I walked into my class once I arrived and sat in my seat next to my best friend. She rubbed my shoulder, 'Are you okay, Abie?'
I looked at her with tears still waiting to overflow over my eye lids, 'Tibs, he wont stop drinking even if it involves me getting hurt...'
Tibee shook her head, 'You need to leave him, Abie.'
A single tear trespassed down my cheek, 'I cant...'
Tibee hugged me, 'Sweetie, he doesn't deserve you. You can come move in with me.'
I nodded, 'Ill think about it.'
Tibee nodded, 'Well, did you start Romeo and Juliet?'
I pulled the book out and showed her how far I got. Tibees eyes got wide, 'Geez, you have a lot of time on your hands!'
I lightly laughed, 'Well, having a drunk boyfriend can have its advantages.'
After class Tibee and I walked out and walked to the espresso stand and got lattes. I asked, 'Do you wanna come over tonight, I'm making pasta. Joe will most likely be out.'
Tibee nodded, 'Sure, Ill come by around 7:30. Ill bring my little sister too.'
I smiled, 'Kay, Ill see yah tonight, bye Tibs.' I walked slowly to my car and drove back to the condo where me and Joe live. I locked my car and walked up the stairs to the entrance of the condo. I entered and didn't see any sign of Joe. I called, 'Joe?!'
I then heard the shower turn off. I figured he just wanted to clean up before he goes out. I sat down on the couch and read more of Romeo and Juliet.
A few minutes Joe was walking down the stairs. I put a book mark in my book and put it down, 'How are yah feelin now?'
Joe nodded, 'Better.' He sat down next to me and kissed me.
I pulled away, 'Joe go brush your teeth, you taste like alcohol.'
