Elvis Presley Rags to Riches
Elvis Presley Rags to Riches Written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. Elvis recorded it September 22, 1970 at rcas Hollywood Studios. The single release peaked at #45 on Billboards Hot 100 chart, remaining for 5 weeks. It was the A-side to Where did They Go, Lord. It is available on Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70s Masters, Elvis Aron Presley, Thats The Way It Is (Special Edition), For The Good Times, and The 50 Greatest Love Songs, which is where this version is from. I know I'd go from rags to riches If you would only say you cared And though my pockets may be empty I'd be a millionaire My clothes may still be torn and tattered But in my heart I'd be a king Your love is all that ever mattered It's everything So open your arms and you'll open the door To all the treasure that I'm living for Hold me and kiss me and tell me you're mine evermore Must I forever stay a beggar? Whose golden dreams will not come true? Or will I go from rags to riches My fate is up to you
ELVIS PRESLEY - Kismet
LP: "Harum scarum" (1965) KISMET (Sid Tepper,Roy C. Bennett) (As sung by Elvis in the 1965 movie "Harum Scarum") When you meet by chance, it's not just by chance It's kismet When two hearts stand still, it's destiny's will It's kismet The wheel of fortune spins, 'round and around it goes Who will the arrow point to? only kismet knows Until you came by, kismet and I, were strangers But now that you're here, it's suddenly clear we've met This is my lucky day, love's in the cards I'd say Thanks to kismet, kismet, kismet Until you came by, kismet and I were strangers But now that you're here, it's suddenly clear we've met This is my lucky day, love's in the cards I'd say Thanks to kismet, kismet,.....kismet
Elvis Presley - VOA Story
For many people it is hard to believe that it has been 30 years [August 16th] since the death of rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley. Every year, 600000 people from around the world visit his home, Graceland, in the US southern city of Memphis, Tennessee. But it was not long before young people went crazy over his music and flocked to his concerts. Elvis became known as the king of rock and roll. Bernard Lansky met Elvis when he was in high school. Lansky owned a clothing shop in an African-American neighborhood with clubs where black singers performed. Elvis would stop to admire the clothes in the window. One day Lansky asked him to come in. Elvis wanted clothes that would make him stand out. Lansky gave the young man some clothes on credit. Soon after, Elvis sang on national television and became a star. Elvis became a life-long customer. Lanksy made a coat to match Elvis' pink Cadillac and designed shirts for him in unusual color combinations -- shirts Lansky still sells today. As rock music changed over the decades, Elvis adapted and had at least one top 40 hit on the music charts every year. Despite his many hit songs, Elvis won only three American Grammy music awards -- all for gospel albums. At a young age ...
