save the last dance for me - Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman
save the last dance for me
"Save the Last Dance for Me" is a song by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, that was first recorded in 1960 by Ben E. King and The Drifters, who took it to #1 on the U.S. pop charts, the group's only #1 record. In the UK, the Drifters' version reached #2 in December 1960. Around this time, an answer record by Damita Jo entitled "I'll Save the Last Dance for You" gained popularity.[citation needed]
In the song, the narrator tells his lover she is free to mingle and socialize throughout the evening, but to make sure to save him one dance at the end of the night. The song is likely based on the personal experience of Doc Pomus, who had polio and used crutches to get around and could not dance. His wife, however, was a Broadway actress and dancer. The song gives his perspective of plaintively telling his wife to have fun dancing, but reminds her who will be taking her home and "in whose arms you're gonna be." [1]

The song was subsequently recorded by Ike and Tina Turner on the Phil Spector-produced "River Deep, Mountain High", with the point of view changed to be from the viewpoint of the female. In 1978 a singer/songwriter from Southern California, Ron Shaw, recorded the song on Pacific Challenger Records. It made it to the Top 40 Country Hits in Billboard Magazine. Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton also each recorded versions of the song (Harris in 1979 after learning that Shaw's version had been successful, and Parton in 1984); both singers' recordings reached the top ten on the U.S. country singles charts. The Beatles had recorded the song for their album Let It Be, but it was later decided to not to include the song on the album by the time of its 1970 release; however, Harry Nilsson released his version of the song on the album "Pussy Cats" (1974) which was produced by John Lennon. More recently, Michael Bublé has brought his version to #99 on the U.S. charts.[citation needed]
Michael Bublé sings it as the last song in the film "The Wedding Date."
You can dance-every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye,let him hold you tight
You can smile-every smile for the man
Who held your hand neath the candle light
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me
Oh I know that the musics fine
Like sparklin' wine,go and have your fun
Laugh and sing, but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me
Baby don't you know I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch
I will never never let you go
I love you oh so much
You can dance,go and carry on
Till the night is gone
And it's time to go
If he asks if you're all alone
Can he take you home, you must tell him no
'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me
'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me.

go to sleep little baby (a cappella ~ harmony)
Well, I have a tendonitis to my left hand so I'm not supposed to play guitar for a little while, so I thought I could still post something with vocals only :) I'm sure you won't miss my poor guitar skills anyway :P
This song is from the "O'Brother, Where Art Thou?" movie soundtrack. It's originally sung by Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch.
I recorded myself 3 times with GarageBand and then I struggled to put a video together with iMovie. Too bad you can't hear the stereo pan on YouTube tho :(
Yes it's the same cheesy picture all along, but I didn't know what to put to match the song... Sorry.
Well, enough said ; I hope you like it!

for it's plain now that she once lived here
it may be that I'll never forget her
cause she's love and love lives everywhere
could it be that I'll always be saying
I've got to go for she once lived here
I see her face in the cool of the evening
I hear her voice in each breeze loud and clear
oh there must be a town without memories
but not this one for she once lived here
I've got to go now for she once lived here
Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris - Hearts on Fire
"Hearts On Fire"
Words and Music by Walter Egan and Tom Guidera
Hearts on fire.
My love for you brought only misery.
Hearts on fire.
Put out the flames and set this cold heart free.
One short year our love burned.
Until at last I guess you learned
the art of being untrue, and then goodbye,
What could I do except to cry and moan?
Lord, what have I done?
Once we were as sweet and warm
as the golden morning sun.
Hearts on fire.
My love for you brought only misery.
Hearts on fire.
Put out the flames and set this cold heart free.
Friends say it's just a game
And that no one is to blame
Go out, forget her lies.
But she'll be there and sparks will fly
My love has turned to hatred.
Sleep escapes me still.
God, please take this heart of mine.
Cause if you don't the devil will.
Hearts on fire.
My love for you brought only misery.
Hearts on fire.
Put out the flames and set this cold heart free.
Hearts on fire.
