WATCH OUT FOR LUCY by Eric Clapton
[A] [C#7] [F#m] [D]
[A] [E7] [A] [E7]
Now [A] my friend Bill was just a [D] working lad
And he [C#] liked to have his [D] fun.
He'd like to [A] find a girl and get [E] comfortable
When his [D] working day was [E7] done.
He would [F#m] spend all his money on a [C#7] Friday night,
[D] Wake up in the morning [A] broke,
But he [F#m] had a run in with little [C#7] Lucy then;
Be[D]lieve me that ain't no [E7] joke.
[A] Watch [C#7] out for [F#m] Lucy, [D]
[A] Though she [C#7] may look [F#m] frail. [D]
Said, "Ex[A]cuse me, [C#7] Lucy,
[F#m] Darling don't you [D] use me;
[A] I don't want to [E7] land in [A] jail."
[A] [C#7] [F#m] [D]
[A] [E7] [A] [E7]
She [A] started out working in a [D] cafe,
Picking [C#] money up on the [D] side.
She was [A] free and easy, [E] everybody's friend,
But she [D] couldn't be satis[E7]fied.
So now [F#m] in walks Bill with his [C#7] cash in his hand,
His [D] heart upon his [A] sleeve.
We [F#m] tried to warn him a[C#7]bout her ways,
We [D] never did suc[E7]ceed.
Chorus
[A] [C#7] [F#m] [D]
[A] [E7] [A] [E7]
Well, the [A] trap was sprung for [D] poor old Bill;
You should have [C#] heard little Lucy [D] sing
"I want a [A] Cadillac car, a [E] beautiful home,
And a [D] thousand dollar [E7] ring."
They [F#m] found our hero in the [C#7] gutter
With a [D] diamond ring and a [A] gun.
He'd [F#m] done it for the love of [C#7] Lucy
And [D] ended up on the [E7] run.

Lyrics
Theres a hole in my life
When I wake up in the mornin
Theres a hole in my life
Takes me right into the evenin
Theres a hole in my life
Theres a hole, theres a hole in my life
When time comes it really comes
And when it comes it always knows your name
When time goes it really goes
And when it goes it always stays the same
Sometimes I regret
When Im alone in my room I feel low
Waitin for the moment when
The feeling I had will let me go
Theres a hole in my life
When I wake up in the mornin
Theres a hole in my life
Takes me right into the evenin
Theres a hole in my life
Theres a hole , theres a hole in my life
When she comes she really comes
And when she comes she always plays the game
When she goes she really goes
And when she goes shes in her moods again
Sometimes I regret
When Im alone in my room I feel low
Waitin for the moment when
The feeling I had will let me go
Theres a hole in my life
When I wake up in the mornin
Theres a hole in my life
Takes me right into the evenin
Theres a hole in my ......
Life was easy when I had no worries
I thought I had it made
Now Im older ...aint gettin younger
I think of yesterday
Sometimes I regret
When Im alone in my room I feel low
Waitin for the moment when
The feeling I had will let me go
Theres a hole in my life
When I wake up in the mornin
Theres a hole in my life
Takes me right into the evenin
Theres a hole in my life
Theres a hole , theres a hole in my life

Some Interesting notes on this recording:
This was a very experimental track with a whole hotch- potch of ideas crammed in to it. Verse 1 was wriiten after a convo with The lead vocalist re a night demon who visited him. It looked like the grim reaper coming to get him.
Verse 2 was relating to a moody ex girlfriend who I had just split up with. The chorus was originally about the huge gap in my life cos my dad was never around ( 5,ooo miles away most of the time !)
The middle 8 was an attempt to create a Psychedelic cross between "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "McArthur Park " (Old ,Old tunes, but classic moods and themes)
Theres a string quartet on the fade out ( 4 girls on 2 violins, viola and cello !)
The fade out was intended to include a type of "I am the walrus" cello riff and various (humble)guitar tributes in the styles of Bill Nelson, Mick Ronson, Dick Wagner,Eric Clapton (while my guitar gently weeps), and Hendrix ("watchtower" mandolin style guitar)
And the actual fade was intended to be a bit reminiscent of the fade on Space Oddity.(The eternally upward slide guitar effect was achieved using the neck of a bottle of Jack Daniels, which we finished off to round off the session on the hottest day of the year July 2001.
I think it turned out rather well in the end !
("spine-tingling psychedlic alt-rock ")

The Monday Morning Blues
Composed, penned down and recorded (on the first attempt) today itself. All between 11 am and 2:30 pm. Now that's what I call the Monday Morning Blues. Check out the lyrics:
The Monday Morning Blues
It was Sunday yesterday
Might just be Tuesday the 'morrow
Something's just not right 'bout today
Looks kinna grim through 'nd thorough
The night was hot and stale
The mornin' even worse
Hang on, I've been through this before
Oh yeah, I call it the Monday morning blues
I've watched Jimi*1 and his axe*2
I've heard the bluesy King*3
I've seen Clapton's*4 bends
And yeah, might've heard the Queen*5
My sir wants me to play like them
But here I am, oh babe
With the Monday morning blues
Ma tells me to wake up and study
All with the exams at the door
I know I gotta go to college
But babe, its the Monday morning blues
Alone and Acoustic*6 I play my way through
I haven't even had time to shave
'Cause its the Monday morning blues
I ain't got no Lucy*7
I am no slowhand*8
But there's my jumbo*9 built of plywood
And with her*10 I'm the king in my own own land
I don't know no grammar*11
I don't know like what I should sound
I play what I feel like
Must be the Monday morning blues
*1- Jimi Hendrix
*2- An axe is what some rock players call the guitar
*3- B.B. King
*4- Eric Clapton
*5- The Queen
*6- Alone and Acoustic was an album by Buddy Guy
*7- B.B. King had named his guitar Lucy
*8- At one point of time Eric Clapton was named Slowhand by his fans
*9- refers to my jumbo acoustic guitar
*10- I have used her because I always maintain that she's my girlfriend
*11- the musical grammar of the 12-bar Blues
