From: Starla IhaSubject: Kevin Carter TAB Artist: Manic Street Preachers Song: Kevin Carter Album: Everything Must Go Hi there! This is one of the three songs on "Everything Must Go" that was written by Richey. He co-wrote a few others on the album as well but you probably know that. Kevin Carter was a photographer who took a picture of a vulture standing near a dying child. This photo won him the Pulitzer prize and he became very famous. He was not happy and so killed himself because he couldn't live with the thought that instead of helping the child he photographed it and left it to die. Manic Street Preachers "Kevin Carter" live at King Tuts, 18-Feb-2010
This is "Kevin Carter" by Manic Street Preachers live at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow as part of the venue's 20th birthday celebrations on 18 February 2010. James Dean Bradfield said that they'd last played King Tuts in 1991. Notably, they started with "Strip It Down" from the New Art Riot EP (their third ever release in 1990 and first as the 4-piece of James, Nicky, Richie and Sean), with James saying that it was probably the first time they'd played the song in 19 years. After a group huddle, they also sporadically added "Masses Against The Classes" which wasn't originally on the setlist. The set was: STRIP IT DOWN YOUR LOVE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS FROM DESPAIR TO WHERE PEELED APPLES THIS IS YESTERDAY KEVIN CARTER TSUNAMI FOUND THAT SOUL LITTLE BABY NOTHING JACKIE COLLINS EXISTENTIAL QUESTION TIME IF YOU TOLERATE THIS YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE NEXT DONKEYS (James, solo acoustic) THE EVERLASTING (James, solo acoustic) YOU LOVE US NO SURFACE ALL FEELING THE MASSES AGAINST THE CLASSES MOTOWN JUNK A DESIGN FOR LIFE At the bottom of the setlist too, it said: "LET US NOT ASSUME THERE IS NOT MORE AND MORE AND MORE AND MORE AND THEN MORE TO WRITE ABOUT" - NORMAN MAILER Here is an NME review of the show: www.nme.com This video was shot on a Sony Ericsson C905 phone. PS: It was good to see Nicky Wire back in a skirt (which he was wearing for the rest of the set after James' solo spot).
