If jolting you between 4 and 7 isn't enough,these short sixteenth eighth note

figure will definitely give you quite a ride .If you have trouble feeling the phrase,think of the 4 bar as 8 and count eight eighth-notes followed by a bar

of 7(1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8/1 2 3 4 5 6 7).The is strengthen by the *VII,here G5,at
   8      
the end of the 7 bar.

Metallica often expands a musical idea to fit more than one section.For example,the same jolting rthythmicidea from the chorus riff is expanded
to form this pre-solo riff.Notice how the A5 chord Morph into octaves
and how the rhythm becomes more syncopated.The pre-solo and solo are 
each set in four-bar phrases:three bars of 4 followed by a bar of 7.

The descending A blues scale in the 7 bar sends Hammet blazing off in
the new key of b minor.
