Pink Floyd are an English rock band that initially earned recognition for their psychedelic rock music, and , as they evolved, for their progressive rock sound. One of rock music's most successful acts, the group have sold an estimated 74.5 million albums in the United States alone. Here we have the performance for "The Dogs of War" from the 1987 release "A Momentary Lapse of Reason". Original founding members Syd Barrett and Roger Waters are missing from this incarnation of the band, only David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright are performing from the original band line-up. This was recorded for the 1988 Laserdisc Concert film "Delicate Sound of Thunder". Amazing and RARE on the web, Enjoy. Placebo.

The dogs of war describe how politicians orchestrate wars that the public does not know about. Also, the major influence behind war is money. This song was written about the covert wars of the 80's where millions of American dollars went to Afghanistan to fight off the Soviet threat of communism. A Pink Floyd fanzine ran a poll in the late 1980s asking its readers to rate the best and worst Floyd songs ever. "The Dogs of War" topped the list of worst songs, and is still held in low regard by many fans. Most fans cite the lyrics (which appear to be an attempt by David Gilmour to write a Roger Waters-style anti-war song) as the main reason for the song's artistic failure.
