"Brown Sugar" - by the Rolling Stones
-------------

A friend of mine just showed me this recently. I love it :)
Chords only, though... lyrics should be easy from the recording,
and for any lead you're on your own... I don't "do" lead :)

(Note: I'm not filling in chords that were already diagramed,
I'm doing this on the fly and it takes too long!)

Main part:

e---x---x-------8---x-------4-------6----------
b---8---9-------8--10-------4-------6----------
g---8---8-------9--10-------5-------7----------
d---8---8------10--10-------6-------8----------
a---6---6------10---8-------6-------8----------
E---x---x-------8---x-------4-------6----------
   D# D#? D# B# E# B# G# D# A# E# B#

Where "Brown Sugar" lyrics come in:

e---3------
b---3------
g---4------
d---5------
a---5------
E---3------
    G B#

That's about the whole song... The strumming is a little strange;
listen to the album. More Stones stuff, please! (If anyone has it!)

Rolling Stones
Brown Sugar

CORRECTED VERSION: 1.A

IMPORTANT!! Use open G tuning -DGDGBD- that Keith uses on many Stones
songs, e.g., Honky Tonk Woman, I Go Wild, etc. Drop the high E string
to D, Drop the A string to G, and drop the low E string to D.

The song is pretty easy to play once you get the tuning and the basic
chord and rythym patterns down.

Brown sugar . . . .

Notes in parentheses are optional, but add a deeper, bluesy flavor,
especially when slightly bent.

At the end, when Mick is singing, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, . . . woo!" go back and
forth between G (open) and C (5th fret bar). (If you've gotten this far, you
will figure it out.)

I'm tabbing from memory, but I think this should at least get you close.

The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar / Live TOTP 1971
The Rolling Stones perform Brown Sugar on Top Of The Pops in 1971. Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar (1969 Demo & 1973 Rotterdam)
Original 1969 demos and 1973 live recording of "Brown Sugar". If you're able to keep your feet still while listening this song, then you have none or you're deaf! Some of the rare pics here of their 1972/73 US & Europe tour were shot by fans! I also used some 1971 Newcastle pics by fans for the demo version. Enjoy!!! Track 01 BROWN SUGAR (DEMO 1969) Raw early take that lasts here only 1 minute. Mick Jagger purrs at the intro! Track 02 BROWN SUGAR (DEMO 1969) This is an alternative take with 3 guitar solos. 1st Les Paul / 2nd Telecaster / 3rd Stratocaster (to my ears) and great guitar picking on the right channel. Lots of castanets and no brass section. This mix is ready to press but it didn't hit the shelves of record stores. Track 03 BROWN SUGAR (LIVE 1973) This energetic performance was soundboard recorded in Rotterdam and it's my favorite version of this song from their 1973 Pacific/Europe tour. Mick Taylor plays a demonic slide and everybody's on the spot. Jagger sings "Just like a young BOY should" during the chorus!

Ryan Adams & Beth Orton - Brown Sugar [Rolling Stones cover]
A picture/slide show tribute to a wonderful cover song recorded by two great musicians...

Rolling Stones - "Brown Sugar" Live Marquee Club 1971
"BS" live at the Marquee Club, London 26th March 1971. This is the "broadcast version" with improved picture. Bobby Keys (sax) and Jim Price (trumpet).
